Marklin New Item Announcement: March 2026

 Prototype History:

The first electric locomotives of the Royal Prussian Railway Administration (KPEV) marked a bold step forward in railway engineering, combining proven steam-era design principles with clean, efficient electric power. Free from soot, coal, and steam, these pioneering machines represented a new era of traction.

Built in 1913–1914, the Class EG 507 and 508 freight locomotives embodied Prussian precision and innovation. Developed as specialised test engines during the early days of electrification, their unusual appearance and distinctive sound set them apart. Though experimental, these remarkable locomotives helped lay the foundations for modern electric rail transport.

The Model:

This highly detailed model features completely new tooling, with a die-cast zinc chassis and main frame, and a body crafted from sheet brass. Separately applied components are made from centrifugally cast brass, adding authentic depth and realism. A centrally mounted high-performance motor powers all axles, ensuring smooth and reliable operation on your layout. The locomotive is fully compatible with AC, DC, Märklin Digital, and DCC systems, and includes an mfx digital decoder with 31 functions and a programmable buffer capacitor.

The model offers extensive sound and lighting features. Motorized, prototypical scissor pantographs can be raised and lowered digitally, while the dual white LED headlights switch to red marker lights as needed. Approaching train lights are digitally controllable, and the cab features warm-white LED lighting with illuminated control desks and a relay flashing effect. Cab doors open to reveal elaborately reproduced interior details, including a built-in engineer figure, enhancing display and operational realism.

Authentic detailing continues across the exterior, with metal grab irons, separately applied signs, whistles, and sprung buffer beams with brake lines. The rear comes fitted with a factory-installed, remote-controllable Telex coupler, which can be swapped for the included screw couplers. The front is fitted with a prototypical screw coupler, and an optional Telex coupler is also included, allowing full flexibility for operations and realistic train assembly.
