The latest addition to the Gaugemaster Collection Series sees the iconic British Rail Class 56 return in striking BR Dutch Grey and Yellow livery as No. 56031 ‘Merehead’. Produced in N Scale (1:148), this specially commissioned release captures one of Britain’s most recognisable heavy freight locomotives in a livery closely associated with the latter years of BR freight operations, making it an ideal addition for modern image diesel layouts and collectors alike.
Known to enthusiasts as “Grids”, the Class 56 fleet became a familiar sight across the UK rail network from the late 1970s onwards, hauling heavy aggregate, steel and coal traffic. This latest Gaugemaster Collection model combines the unmistakable appearance of the prototype with an extensive range of fine detailing features, including etched grilles, separately fitted handrails, directional lighting and etched brass nameplates. Powered by a smooth-running 5-pole motor with all-wheel drive and pickup, the model is designed to deliver reliable performance alongside an impressive level of finish, continuing the high standards expected from the Gaugemaster Collection range.
