The Class 156 2 Car ‘Sprinter’ DMU has been a common way to travel for many people all over the country for over 30 years. It’s reliability and versatility has seen it used in almost every region of the UK apart from the South East and is particularly well known for its work in Scotland, the North West and East Anglia as well as on the route between Norwich and Liverpool via Leicester and Sheffield.
Now displaced on primary routes by newer trains or by Class 158s, these stellar units remain common on secondary services or commuter trains. Included in this set is 156 919 which is in one of the very latest liveries ‘EMR Regional’ which is East Midlands Railway’s Regional division so this particular multiple unit can be seen almost anywhere between Liverpool and Norwich to the west and east respectively with Nottingham acting as the hub for the EMR operation. This Train Set depicts the modern railway scene so will resonate with both the young and young at heart.

Electric Freight Premium Train Set

The Class 86 is one of the UKs most numerous electric locomotives and has seen a wide variety of liveries in its lifetime. Although relatively short-lived, this variation on the Railfreight Distribution scheme was among the most popular, as it took the best elements of the existing Roundel Design Group livery and added new elements such as the large Railfreight Distribution lettering, which really finished off the look.
Alongside a couple of similarly liveried wagons that are unique to this train set, you’ll enjoy a great representation of a 1990s freight train that you might have seen anywhere on the West Coast Main Line or spotted at Willesden, Crewe or Carlisle. It is often said that we were spoiled for colour in the sectorisation era of the 90s, so this attractive train set will be highly evocative of a transformational time in the history of British Railways.
