Details

The Bombardier Talent 2 is a family of electric multiple units (EMUs) built by Bombardier Transportation to serve regional and suburban passenger routes across Germany and neighbouring countries. Production began in 2008, and the trains entered regular service from 2011, becoming a key component of modern regional rail operations.

Although visually similar to the original Bombardier Talent, the Talent 2 is a largely new design with a modular platform allowing trainsets of two to six cars. Depending on configuration, train lengths range from approximately 40 to over 100 metres. With maximum operating speeds of up to 160 km/h and power outputs exceeding 4,000 kW in longer formations, the Talent 2 is well suited to fast regional, commuter and S-Bahn services.

In Germany, the trains are primarily operated by Deutsche Bahn Regio as Classes 442 and 443, but they are also used by private operators such as Abellio, National Express and SWEG. Designed for high-frequency passenger traffic, the Talent 2 offers modern interiors, good acceleration, accessibility features and contemporary passenger information systems.
