This model captures the rapid expansion of global container logistics from the 1990s onwards, when international shipping companies like MSC became a dominant presence on European rail networks.

The prototype flat wagon is widely used in standardised container transport services, forming part of long-distance intermodal block trains across Italy and Europe.
