Add operational variety and classic German railway character to your layout with this PIKO 2026 novelty 2-piece set, featuring a converted Umbauwagen used as a workshop vehicle and a matching KS flat wagon of Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) in Era IV. This unusual pairing reflects the practical, everyday freight and service combinations commonly seen on DB networks during the 1960s–1980s.

The Umbauwagen coach, rebuilt from older passenger stock, is presented in a distinctive blue workshop livery with red DB “Keks” logo, representing its use in maintenance and service duties. These conversion coaches were widely used for decades in local and secondary services, often repurposed for non-passenger roles. The model features finely detailed bodywork, flush-mounted windows, and a realistic interior with excellent visibility.

Accompanying the coach is a KS flat wagon, a versatile freight vehicle used across DB operations for transporting heavy goods, machinery, and workshop materials, making it the perfect complement to the workshop-themed Umbauwagen.

Both models are built to PIKO’s high standards, offering excellent running characteristics, crisp Era IV detailing, and smooth-rolling wheelsets for reliable operation across layouts of all sizes.
