History:
The Focke-Wulf TL-Jäger Flitzer was a late-World War II German jet-fighter project by Focke-Wulf. Designed under project names “Entwurf VI/Projekt VI” (later “Projekt VII”), the Flitzer featured a central fuselage with twin tail-booms and wing-root air intakes — a layout reminiscent of de Havilland Vampire.
The intended powerplant was a single Heinkel HeS 011A turbojet, augmented by a Walter HWK 109-509 rocket motor to give short-burst thrust for rapid climb or interception.
A full-scale wooden mock-up was completed and tested in wind-tunnel conditions in early 1944, but the design never advanced to a flying prototype — the project was cancelled in 1945, as the requisite engines were unavailable and the required performance gains were deemed insufficient.
