US SSB Abraham Lincoln w/Interior (1:253 Scale)
USS Abraham Lincoln (SSBN-602) was a George Washington-class fleet ballistic missile submarine of the United States Navy. Her keel was laid down on 1 November 1958 at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. She was launched on 14 May 1960, sponsored by Mary L. Beckwith, great-granddaughter of President Abraham Lincoln, and commissioned on 8 March 1961. After shakedown and weapons testing, she was assigned to Holy Loch, Scotland, conducting deterrent patrols during the Cold War. In 1965, she underwent an overhaul, receiving Polaris A3 missiles. In 1972, she transferred to the Pacific Fleet, operating from Guam. Decommissioned in 1981, she was scrapped under the Ship-Submarine Recycling Program.
