This model introduced a new full-width perimeter frame, replacing the previous "X" frame, and featured a redesigned body with curved, frameless side glass and a sharper-angled windshield. The interior boasted improved comfort with tufted upholstery and simulated walnut trim. Engine options ranged from a 230 cu in inline-six to a 396 cu in V8, with the latter producing up to 425 horsepower. The Impala Super Sport (SS) package was available, adding performance enhancements and distinctive styling cues.
