The ARC-170 (Aggressive Reconnaissance Starfighter) was one of the Republic’s heaviest and most capable Clone Wars-era starfighters. Built for long-range missions and deep strike operations, it combined strong armour, heavy weaponry, and a three-crew configuration consisting of a pilot, co-pilot, and tail gunner. The design made it highly effective in frontline combat but less agile than later single-seat fighters.

ARC-170 starfighters saw extensive service during the Clone Wars and are widely regarded as the direct technological predecessor to the later T-65 X-Wing used by the Rebel Alliance. They are prominently featured in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, where they support Republic forces during the opening battle above Coruscant.
