Between 1947 and 1950, the SBB ordered 20 ABi platform carriages, and from 1948 to 1950, another 20 type Bi carriages. The SBB ordered several carriages for branch lines. The company Le Pont-Le Brassus (PBr, now Travys) also ordered two carriages.
