Details

The Roco 6600248 is a highly detailed H0 scale freight wagon set featuring two covered postal wagons of type Post 2s-t/11, operated by the Deutsche Bundespost (DBP). Representing Era IV operation, this set accurately models the specialised postal freight traffic used in and around Berlin during the 1980s, bringing an authentic and often overlooked aspect of railway logistics to your layout.

Based on converted DB Gos 245 / Gos-uv 245 covered goods wagons, these vehicles were introduced in 1981 for dedicated mail transport services. Although technically freight wagons, they were assigned passenger coach numbers due to their operational role and remained in service until the early 1990s.

This set includes two distinct wagon variants to enhance realism: one fitted with a traditional brakeman’s platform, and the other equipped with a heating cable—modelled for the first time. Both wagons feature finely detailed bodies with accurate proportions and prototypical lettering, making them ideal for recreating mail trains or mixed freight consists.

Designed for smooth and reliable operation, the wagons are fitted with NEM 362 coupling pockets and close coupling kinematics. With a total length over buffers of 293 mm, the set integrates seamlessly into H0 2-rail DC layouts and can be adapted for AC systems with optional wheelsets.
