CD Rh371 002 Electric Locomotive IV

In the 1980s, the CSD and the DR decided to purchase dual-system locomotives in order to simplify the constantly growing traffic and operations in cross-border traffic on the Berlin-Dresden-Prague route.

The expansion of the Decín-Prague connection to a maximum speed of 160 km/h made it necessary to upgrade some locomotives. From 1994, six Czech Rh 372 locomotives were adapted for faster international travel and have since operated under the series designation 371 - "Turbobastard". The CD moved the converted machines to the Prague depot.
