DBAG BR185 077 Electric Locomotive VI (DCC-Sound)

The order from DB Cargo for 200 such units was the main impetus for the development of the TRAXX AC1, as the locomotive type was retroactively named in 2003. The name TRAXX stands for "Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility". The locomotive, directly derived from the 145 series but with a modified design and series name, could now be used for both of the alternating voltage systems commonly used in Europe, 15 kV/16 2/3 Hz and 25 kV/ 50 Hz. With a weight of 84 t, it delivers 5.6 MW of continuous power and is approved for 140 km/h.
