Built on the Volkswagen B2 platform, it featured a longitudinal front-mounted inline-five engine, initially 2.1L and later upgraded to 2.2L, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Its distinctive flared wheel arches and advanced drivetrain set it apart. The Quattro achieved significant success in the World Rally Championship, securing Audi the manufacturers' titles in 1982 and 1984, and drivers' titles in 1983 and 1984. A total of 11,452 units were produced, solidifying its legacy as a performance icon.
