Description
Russian JS3 Stalin Heavy Tank (1:35 Scale)
The IS-3 (Object 703) was a Soviet heavy tank developed in late 1944. It featured a distinctive semi-hemispherical cast turret, earning it the nickname "Stalin's Bowl." The tank's design emphasized sloped armor, enhancing its ballistic protection. Armed with a 122 mm D-25T gun and secondary 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm machine guns, it had a crew of four. Powered by a V-2-IS diesel engine producing 520 hp, the IS-3 had a maximum speed of 37 km/h and an operational range of 150 km. Approximately 2,311 units were produced between 1945 and 1947. While it did not see combat during World War II, the IS-3 participated in the 1945 Berlin Victory Parade and was later used in various conflicts, including the 1956 Soviet invasion of Hungary and the Six-Day War. The IS-3 influenced post-war tank designs with its innovative turret shape and armor configuration.
