Finished in military livery and equipped with a working recovery crane and rotating warning beacon, this highly detailed functional model is ideal for military depots, transport operations, engineering units, recovery scenes, and heavy-haulage layouts.

Part of the advanced CarMotion range, this model combines realistic vehicle operation with impressive crane detailing and authentic road vehicle movement. Based on the rugged Magirus Deutz 230 D 26 AK KHD Jupiter recovery crane, it features smooth driving characteristics, configurable speed settings, realistic acceleration and braking behaviour, and a comprehensive lighting package. Whether positioned at a military base, recovering disabled vehicles, or being transported on a heavy-duty rail wagon, this model adds operational realism and visual impact to any HO scale scene.

The model is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery providing approximately 4–6 hours of operation during normal use and up to 2 hours at maximum speed. Additional functions include cab lighting, brake lights, reversing lights, indicators, hazard warning lights, dipped and main beam headlights, and a detailed cab interior with driver figure. A 5-pole coupling allows connection to compatible CarMotion trailers and semi-trailers. The vehicle is compatible with magnetic tape guidance, contact wire systems, infrared control, permanent magnets, electromagnetic stop coils, and the CarMotion remote control. An optional sound upgrade is available using sound module 8452. The model is also suitable for transport on the Märklin heavy-duty flat wagon 48740.

Historical Background

The prototype is the Magirus Deutz 230 D 26 AK KHD Jupiter 3-axle recovery crane, powered by a Deutz F8L914 V8 diesel engine producing 169 kW (230 hp). Equipped with a fully hydraulic Bilstein K 12500 H recovery crane with a lifting capacity of up to 12 tonnes and a lifting height of approximately 11 metres, these vehicles were widely used for military recovery and heavy rescue operations.
