Create your own custom HO scale road vehicle with the Viessmann 8409 CarMotion Mercedes-Benz Actros 3-Axle Chassis. This innovative base model provides the foundation for building individual CarMotion vehicles, allowing model railway enthusiasts to design and fit their own cab and bodywork. It is ideal for scratch-building projects, customised fleet vehicles, and highly detailed prototype conversions within modern HO scale road traffic scenes.

Part of the advanced CarMotion system, this chassis includes the full drive and control technology found in Viessmann’s functional vehicles. It delivers smooth, realistic driving behaviour with infrared-controlled operation and intelligent movement characteristics. The underfloor drive keeps the load area free while maintaining an authentic low-profile appearance, making it an excellent starting point for bespoke commercial, municipal, or industrial vehicle builds.

The chassis comes pre-equipped with lithium-polymer battery technology, providing typical CarMotion operating performance of around 4–6 hours under normal conditions and approximately 2 hours at maximum speed. It supports lighting functions including cab lighting, indicators, brake lights, reversing lights, and headlights (depending on completed build). The system is compatible with magnetic tape guidance, contact wire systems, permanent magnets, electromagnetic stop coils, and infrared control. A 5-pin coupling interface allows connection to CarMotion trailers and semi-trailers. A reed-contact switching system enables easy on/off control using a magnetic tool, and short reverse manoeuvres are possible without fixed guidance.
