The Mercedes-Benz LP 333 Flatbed Lorry, nicknamed the “Millipede,” was built from 1958 to 1961 as a unique cab-over-engine commercial truck to meet strict German axle-weight laws. Its unusual twin steered front axles allowed a three-axle 16-tonne gross weight while keeping overall length down, ideal for heavy haulage on European roads. Powered by a 10.8 litre six-cylinder diesel and used for carrying bulky goods, the LP 333 became a distinctive sight in freight transport. With only around 1,833 built, its rarity and quirky design make it a prized subject for classic truck and model collectors.
