Model Details

The Henschel Flatbed Articulated Lorry “Spedition Pracht” by Wiking is a highly detailed 1:87 scale collector model representing a classic German long-distance freight vehicle from the early 1960s. Finished in authentic Spedition Pracht haulage company livery, this finely crafted miniature recreates a period-correct Henschel articulated transport combination that operated regular freight routes between Frankfurt and Berlin during West Germany’s post-war economic expansion.

Based on the Henschel HS 14/16 series introduced at the 1961 IAA commercial vehicle exhibition, the model features the distinctive cubic cab styling designed by renowned French industrial designer Louis Lucien Lepoix. The modern forward-control cab became one of the defining visual identities of Henschel trucks throughout the 1960s.

This Wiking release is ideal for HO scale model railway layouts, freight terminals, logistics depots, and vintage commercial vehicle collections, offering realistic proportions, crisp detailing, and authentic period transport character.

Historical Background

The Henschel HS 14/16 series marked a major step forward in German commercial vehicle design during the early 1960s. Introduced at the 1961 IAA exhibition, the new truck generation featured a modern cubic forward-control cab that improved driver visibility, cargo efficiency, and long-distance comfort. The styling was created by French designer Louis Lucien Lepoix, whose work strongly influenced European industrial vehicle aesthetics of the era.

The featured vehicle operated for Spedition Pracht, a respected German logistics company based in Haiger, Hesse. The company became known for maintaining regular freight links between Frankfurt and Berlin, helping support the growing industrial and commercial demands of West Germany during the Wirtschaftswunder years.

Flatbed articulated lorries like this were widely used for transporting industrial goods, palletised freight, machinery, and general cargo across expanding motorway networks throughout Europe.
