Mail trains have always fascinated railway enthusiasts and modellers, and the Propelling Control Vehicle (PCV) played a vital role in the modern mail scene until the early 2000s. Following the loss of the Royal Mail contract by EWS in 2003, most PCVs were withdrawn, stored, or scrapped. A few, however, found new uses, including No. 95301, which received full EWS livery and worked on parcels traffic.

The EFE Rail PCV model captures this distinctive vehicle with a highly detailed bodyshell featuring separately fitted details such as jumper cables, windscreen wipers, handrails, lamp brackets, and ETH connections. Its finely modelled B5 bogies include realistic brake and suspension gear, while the cab-end bogie also incorporates a speedometer and associated cable running to the solebar. Underframe components, including battery boxes and brake equipment, are all individually applied for maximum authenticity.

This model also includes fully operational lighting, with directional lights at the cab end switchable between day and night modes using underframe-mounted switches. On DCC operation, a Next18 DCC Decoder unlocks additional lighting functions, including the cab light and digital control of the directional day/night settings. Power is collected from every wheel, and the model features tension-lock couplings in NEM pockets mounted on a close-coupling mechanism for smooth operation. Optional detailing parts, such as brake pipes and dummy buckeye couplings, are also provided for fitting to the bufferbeams.
