EFE Rail Updates
EFE Rail have now announced the release of the highly anticipated T3 Class steam locomotive.
T3 Locomotives - Stock is on the way..
The LSWR T3 class was a fleet of twenty express‑passenger 4‑4‑0 steam locomotives designed by William Adams and built at Nine Elms in 1892–93 for the London & South Western Railway. Numbered 557–576, they were based on the earlier X2 class but featured slightly smaller 6 ft 7 in driving wheels, an extended coupled wheelbase (+6 in), and Adams’s largest firebox (6 ft long, 19¾ sq ft grate). Their 175 psi boilers, outside cylinders (19×26 in), and 17,673 lbf tractive effort made them well-suited to undulating routes such as west of Salisbury.
All passed to the Southern Railway in 1923, withdrawals began in 1930 and concluded in 1945. One example, No. 563, survived and returned to steam in October 2023 after extensive restoration at Swanage Railway.
