Main Lines: 11th April 2026
Welcome to this week's Main Lines.
Over the past week, the UK railway network has continued to balance ongoing investment with operational challenges, while also marking a significant recovery in Scotland as Glasgow Central station fully returned to normal operation following last month’s major fire disruption. All platforms have now reopened and timetables restored after weeks of reduced access and service changes, bringing a welcome return to stability at one of the country’s busiest hubs. Elsewhere, Network Rail has pressed ahead with infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving performance and capacity, although some operators are still facing delays linked to maintenance backlogs and staffing pressures, keeping reliability and resilience firmly in focus across the network.
In modelling news, we have had some exciting special announcements which should have a strong appeal to those with connections to the Fire Service and those who are fans of Roco, as well as new items in the Metcalfe and Hornby TT ranges too. Closer to home, we are pleased to announce that we are finally bringing back a much-missed feature to our website, the Gaugemaster Club Hub, and you can get involved, too!
We are Relaunching the Gaugemaster Club Hub - And We Need You to Get Involved!
We are pleased to announce that the Gaugemaster Club Hub will soon be returning to our website. This much-requested feature will return later this month, and to make full use of it, we need your help!
We want this to become a showcase for all the varied and talented model clubs from around the country that are such an important part of the hobby. They provide spaces where modellers can come and socialise, exchange knowledge and ideas, and generally share the excitement and learn more about these fantastic, practical hobbies, and we are all here for that!
Originally a feature of our old site, this section is undergoing an overhaul, and we are pleased to announce its upcoming return. If you would like to get your local club or society listed, please contact us through the form on our website or email us at [email protected]
