Main Lines: 9th August 2025
Welcome to this week's Main Lines.
In the real railway world over the past seven days, mainline operations have continued to see summer holiday passenger demand alongside ongoing infrastructure works across several key routes, with engineering upgrades causing notable timetable adjustments. Freight traffic remains steady, with seasonal flows of aggregates and intermodal traffic keeping the network busy.
In the model railway scene, there has been a flurry of announcements. Dapol has revealed its September–October 2025 releases across N, OO and O scales, while Kato has expanded its range with new track, trams, buildings and accessories, plus fresh news from Kato USA. Graham Farish has introduced P7 and D12 coal hopper wagons in N scale, Bachmann has unveiled new E Class and J71 tank locomotives in OO, and Peco has added new OO9 narrow gauge train packs—plenty of fresh arrivals to inspire layouts of every style and era.
