Main Lines: 13th December 2025
Welcome to this week's Main Lines.
The big news this week is that the UK Government has unveiled the official Great British Railways brand, logo and new train livery, a red, white and blue design inspired by the Union Flag and incorporating the classic double-arrow symbol. As part of landmark rail reform that will see the creation of GBR to unify and nationalise the country’s rail network, the branding will begin to appear on trains, stations, websites and apps from spring 2026 alongside wider policy changes like a rail fare freeze. Reactions to the design have been mixed among commentators and the public. What are your thoughts on the new livery?
In model news, there have been several updates and releases this month from Dapol, Preiser, and Roco. More excitingly, however, are the announcements of new packs of Toplight coaches coming to the Gaugemaster Collection, as well as big savings on the Kato Class 800s!
