The latest announcements from Oxford Rail deliver a heritage-rich update for OO gauge steam enthusiasts, headlined by an extensive programme of GWR 2600 Class (Aberdare) locomotives. Covering a broad spread of liveries from classic Lined Green with red frames and Shirtbutton Green through to Wartime Black and BR-patched examples, the range offers both DCC Ready and factory-fitted DCC Sound formats. Joining them is the 264/611 ‘Pug’ Class, presented in Caledonian Railway, LMS and BR variations, including early and late black finishes, again with sound options available throughout, giving modellers plenty of choice across multiple eras. This small locomotive should make a lovely addition to yards and sidings everywhere, filling another detailed gap in the Caledonian Railway fleet.
Supporting the new locomotives is a substantial selection of period freight stock, including numerous 10-ton GER cattle vans and 10-ton covered vans spanning GER, LNER (pre- and post-1936) and BR liveries, alongside specialist and preserved examples. The release is rounded out by fresh ‘Totem A’ wagon variants, with rebuilt GWR and BR options, unnumbered versions and plain finishes ideal for custom projects. Altogether, the announcement offers a well-balanced mix of characterful steam power and authentic goods vehicles, perfectly suited to layouts depicting pre-grouping through to early British Railways operations.
